Berlin – update fra Finnmarken

Det er vel efterhånden en naturlig sag, at man lige tjekker facebook inden man starter dagens arbejde. Dagens arbejde er i dette tilfælde at finde materiale i bøgerne: Stein og brød, Norge bliver til og hovedtemaet om industrimineraler og naturstein i Norges nasjonalatlas.

På facebook kan jeg se at Michael Thagaard, forstander på Faaborgegnens har postet en henvisning til en dokumentar over vores tur til Berlin i uge 10.

Man kan sige meget om den tur – og det kunne let komme til at tage ganske lang tid, men holdet sammensat fra henholdsvis IT/Medie og Kunst/Design på Faaborgegnens gør det godt!

Daily showcase is from our recent trip with Faaborgegnens Efterskole to Berlin. We often had arranged meet-ups at places with interesting historical content, cultural merits or visual deliciousness. This time, it was at Alexanderplatz and the point was the fountain in the middle – with a astonishing view towards both the grand church and the fernseherturm. The statues of the fountain was sculptured esthetically and fair… I wanted to portrait them.

Sorry for the lack of daily showcases – daily is from our recent trip with Faaborgegnens Efterskole to Berlin. We went to East side gallery the first day in Berlin – it is 1.3 km. of the original wall dividing east- and west Berlin. The wall has been decorated by a huge amount of artist from all over the world. in the aspect of the art itself – the artists appear diverse and you will also find very different ways to cope and refer to the history of WorldWar II.

I present four images from the vast amount of fine art to find at East Side Gallery.

Tacheles – Berlin

Daily showcase is from Tacheles – in Berlin!

“The Kunsthaus Tacheles is an art center and nightclub that was opened in East Berlin after the Berlin Wall came down in the spring of 1990. Tacheles is a large (9000 square meter) building on Oranienburger Straße in the district known asMitte. The exterior of the building was damaged from shelling in World War II, and much of the damage was never repaired. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals are painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures are featured inside.” – (wikipedia.com)

I would not be able to be more precise. When we visited the place, they had open workshops in most of the apartments - which was quite nice!

I’ve featured two images from Tacheles, but got heaps, and talked to a few people there, so poke me – if you want to know more.

Berlin – saturday

Arrival in Berlin – 9 pm (Friday) at Grünebergerstrasse, after a tiresome but cosy ride through northern Germany.
The apartment we rented through Eva Marie (actually her parents), is absolutely awesome… cosy living room, well equipped kitchen and a warm bathroom…

After a few beers and the ideal joy of the trip, both had sunken into our bodies, soaking it all like a sponge. We bolstered our pants with woolies and went for the local Laos-inspired restaurant- “LemonLeaf” (Actually we wanted to find LemonGrass, but we might go there Tomorrow instead…) The Food was excellent and required a fair amount of water.

Today (Saturday) we had an excellent trip around the city, but damn, the time is ticking away… I recall that we agreed on returning home at approx. 4pm – but because of the fascinating butiques and the coffee shops treating us with tasty cups o’ long blacks we were home around 7pm…

More photos and graphic material will be posted when I return to mainland – Denmark, but for now, I’ll post two images from our visit to the Casiopeia area, more precisely the skate hall. The first image was a wall painting on the actual building, it was absolutely awesome decorated, and there where lots… Would like to know the artist. The second is inside the hall, filled with kids, skating.

Berlin – here we come

- Preparations have begun for the trip to Berlin next weekend -

It might be possible to point out a few missing daily showcases, but it’s all because of the preparations made to the upcomming roadtrip ending in Berlin. At Friday, after ended work – I will drive to Odense to pick up the renowned and innovative thinking artist – Niels Pugholm.
